Soundscapes

is an auditory experiential website during my summer study abroad in Florence, Italy. Over the course of 2 months (May-July 2018), 60 seconds of audio were recorded on the hour in various piazzas in the city. Sounds such as crowd noises, music, and and snippets of conversations were combined to immerse oneself into the space. Use your ears to fill in the blanks and encounter the city in a whole new way.

Headphones are encouraged for best experience.

I wanted the design to feel atmospheric and ephemeral to reflect the fleeting sounds which were captured throughout my walks in Florence. The audio clips were placed in a 24-hour clock cycle.
